Beaches to Visit Near the Frederiksted Hotel

Sandy Point National WildLife Preserve is located about 1 mile south of the Frederiksted Hotel. It is one of the most beautiful beaches on St. Croix and is the location where the last scene of the movie "The Shawshank Redemption" was filmed.  It is also here that the giant Leatherback sea-turtles lay their eggs which is why the beach is closed from April to August.

Cottages by the Sea "Benedict Beach" is a beautiful beach located 1/4 mile south of the Frederiksted Hotel.  This lovely, white, sand beach offers calm waters, easy access, great snorkeling and relaxing sunbathing.  The use of this beach and the facilities at Cottages by the Sea is free to guests of the Frederiksted Hotel.

Rainbow Beach is located just north of Frederiksted and has a magnificent view of Frederiksted. This popular beach and restaurants hosts many beach activites, live music and special events.

Frederiksted Pier The Frederikst Hotel overlooks the Frederikstd Pier from its prime location on Strand Street and is where the visiting cruise ships dock for their one day excursions in St Croix. The Pier is not accessible on Cruise Ship days, but all other days it is a great location to snorkle, dive and "jump" into the clear blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.  Walk the Pier at sunset and enjoy the company of the local fisherman.

Fort Frederik Beach To the right (north) of the Pier is Fort Frederik Beach. This very popular beach is a great location to dive, snorkle, sun bathe, or just relax with a cold beverage while wathcing the sunset and waiting to see the elusive "Green Flash". There are public restrooms at the beach. This beach is a short 5 minute walk from the Frederiksted Hotel.
